Gonna Let It Burn

by Broken Bear

Mark G From the opening bars blowing the bloody doors off, all Nirvanaesque, through to Laura’s perfectly pitched vocals, Narx is majestic.
Don’t stop there though. This rest of this EP is imperious.
Lyrically, the EP is ace (“This machine that kills fascists Is now passive…”). Yes, they can be dark and menacing, but they are simultaneously beautiful & poetic.
But more than that, the songs are put together intelligently; the music, vocals and lyrics are perfectly entwined.
A true winner of an EP. Favorite track: Narx.

Building them up then bring them down To your level then surely drown You charm, suppress and overthrow All to feed your ego Idealise, devalue and discard Making the world darker Won't make you shine any brighter Your life's a stage, actors off and on then curtains' down attention's gone Critics jealous and clearly wrong It's them not you so just move on Emptiness, denial and attack Making the world darker Won't make you shine any brighter Making the world darker Won't make you shine any brighter

From the stones that you throw I will build my own house From the scraps you throw I'll make my way out And I've got nothing Nothing to lose Coz in glass houses You shouldn't throw stones Your world we can't reach Lessons you can't teach Words that you can't preach Lives that you can't reach Yeah we know who you are Yeah we know who you are

Alone together In a small crowd This deafening silence Our only choice If we ever see it go up We're just gonna let it burn Wake me up when it's all over Found missing in a minor crisis If we ever see it go up We're just gonna let it burn Wake me up when it's all over

You don’t think for yourself Still you tell me what I should do Do you think I should fall for that Mansplain to me If I choose not to fall for that Just sleepwalk in silence Not worry my pretty head Mansplain gaslighter Be a man but not a girl What do you want from me? To be seen not heard? Try to take me over What do you want from me? To be bred and led? Try to take me over You don’t think for yourself Not logical but quizzical... fool Still you don’t know how to act You think you know better Your world that was built for man And yet you can’t master You can’t think for yourself So why should I listen to you? What do you want from me? To be seen not heard? Try and take me over What do you want from m?e To be zen for men to Try to take me over? Try to take me over x 4

This machine that kills fascists Is now passive and concedes That we all are created equal Except for those who succeed and if we work hard, we can be them And then our children will be free Enlightened in a dark age Freedom in a cage Rape the land, for them cos greed is society A hard rain is gonna fall Said the poet to the thief A hard rain is gonna fall Said the poet to the thief Enlightened in a dark age Freedom in a cage
